Regeneration

Any placement of dental implants requires solid bone foundations of sufficient size due to the mechanical constraints the implant is subjected to. These foundations will act as a fixation support for the dental prosthesis.

Insufficient bone may be noted during the consultation prior to a possible dental implantology procedure. Long-term absence of teeth may lead to significant bone loss, while particularly serious trauma or periodontal disease may lead to bone atrophy which may be pronounced. Pre-implant surgery then becomes required in order to reconstitute sufficient bone volume in the upper (maxilla) or lower jaw (mandible) prior to placement of dental implants.
